More sewing today
Again, taking advantage of some time off... made a pull-string business card holder. I saw something similar around and wanted to make my own version of it.
Here it is with the business cards inside:

Finally some sewing, a new purse/bag
Haven't gotten to use my sewing machine in quite a while. Now that there is a small break between work/holidays/school, I put this together yesterday. I have made this pattern before and loved it, so I decided to make another.
Here is the pattern I used by Amy Butler: "Birdie Sling"
Here is the last one I made from the same pattern.

Learning how to colorize black and white photos
I've been wanting to try this for a while now...
Googled this image and tried it out. Here is the before (black and white) and after (added layers of color in photoshop, touched up a little).

This week's homework was a ball bounce with a tail... I did a regular one, then a more fun "Ninja" ball.
The rig was provided in class.

Week off school/work = sewing projects!
So I finally put together a project for those fabrics I posted a while ago. Ta-da:
It's not finished yet... needs back, binding, and quilting... not sure what to do for that yet.
Another easy (yet AWESOME) project... I made probably the most amazing pair of boxers ever!

Photoshop waterdrops tutorial
Found a pretty cool tutorial on how to make waterdrops and a foggy window look.
Props to the tutorial I followed: abduzeedo.com Foggy Window Effect
Here's my result! The background is a photo I took in Australia looking down on the city in the Sydney tower Restaurant.

Maya character project
Sooo this project took the whole duration of my summer school class in 3d Animation. I think I'm calling it done for now. I still have one day to do anything if I change my mind.
Our class created characters from nothing... so this meant all of the modelling, rigging, texturing, and animation from scratch.

I love... lamp?
Finally getting into Maya! Got the 2011 version for free on students.autodesk.com. Our homework so far is working on our character (which will take the whole summer) and creating a lamp. Here's my lamp (no textures or anything yet).

One (ok a few) more Panorama(s)
I couldn't believe I got this one together. I didn't take the photos very well to stitch them in Photoshop, but I managed to somehow! I reconstructed a lot of sky and water since I didn't have source image for it. Even though it was raining in Sydney this day, it was probably the most beautiful and memorable for this moment!
This one is at Darling Harbour:
This is another in Darling Harbour, of the Maritime Museum.

Australia Panoramas!
Ok so it's been a while since my last post, but for good reason. Had the most amazing vacation to Australia! Got to kayak with sea turtles, cuddle a koala, snorkel the Great Barrier Reef, climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge, oh yeah, and take thousands of photos while I'm at it.
Here's the start of my photo editing, just put together the panorama shots using photoshop CS5. Been very jetlagged while editing so I hope there aren't any screw-ups. Enjoy!
These are from the Blue Mountains about an hour's drive outside of Sydney. Very Grand Canyon-like but with some waterfalls.
These are in Sydney:
These are views from our hotel on Hamilton Island.

Mini Travel Bags
A mini sewing project; took about 45 minutes to make these really quick when I had a bit of free time between other things. It got me away from the screen for a bit!
I'm pretty sure these qualify as adorable...
The larger one is padded with quilter's batting so I can use it for my little point and shoot camera and accessories (my camera is tiiiiiiny). The smaller pouch is for whatever!
In case anyone was wondering what kind of camera I use, it looks like this (image grabbed off the web):
It is the Sony Cybershot DSC-T77. I'm pretty stoked I was able to pull off my digital photography class with this pocket-sized bad boy while a lot of people had big expensive DSLRs. Obviously I can't always get the image quality I want but I think I've gotten some really cool stuff out of it. Eventually I'll get my dream camera and gear ;)

After Effects Final Project
This is my final project for motion graphics class. We were supposed to do a James Bond movie intro. We chose our theme from a list of books that never made it to real Bond movies. I picked "Scorpius". The names I chose for the credits are actually the rumored real people for whatever James Bond movie may come in 2011.

Painting Final
My painting final... we had to do a photo-realistic Trompe L'oeil style painting using Corel Painter 11. It's a mix of whatever media necessary to get it to look good.
Sooo, many many hours of work later... hope you enjoy!

Oil painting project
Here's a project that is due after the weekend... Crossing my fingers for a good grade! It's kind of an experiment with color used as the shading/highlights.
Created with Corel Painter 11, using various oil brushes.

Obsessed with cute tiny zipper pouches
Here's a little something I threw together in 10 minutes the other night... I love this fabric!
I have a stash of about 6 more zippers I can make pouches with... great way to use up my scrap fabric. I may make a few mini-makeup bags for travel.

Sewing day
Well since my first class back from spring break got canceled, I had all day to work on unfinished projects. Mostly I cleaned and organized. Right now these fabrics that were given to me are at the top of my pile for what's next. Aren't they adorable? I am thinking a quilt is probably in order...
Close-up of my favorite two:
When I figure out what the heck I'm doing with these you'll definitely see a post about it.

Homework is fun!
Couldn't wait to get back from being out of town to work on my homework! Yes I've turned into a big nerd who enjoys doing my homework... but who wouldn't in my classes?? Here's the latest due when we get back from spring break. It's a "corpse" collage... the assignment is to put together a crazy mix of body parts and go wild with the hue/saturation.
Another class's homework due soon is to put a mural on a building. You take some photo and make it look like it's painted on the building... I had a bit too much fun and included Master Chief hiding out in the shadows...Halo anyone? : )
